The easiest oatmeal to bring and make is the instant oatmeal. The one I get is 100% whole grain. It’s simple; Pour the packet into a bowl. Heat up some water or milk. And Just add a 1/2 cup of water or milk into the bowl, then stir. It’s quick and easy, and it will warm you up on a brisk morning.

Again you can add fruits to top it off. I like to sprinkle a little sugar on top of my oatmeal.

Remember your camping you need easy meals. You don’t have your 5 star kitchen with you and you don’t need the aggravation. So keep it simple and everyone including the kids will be happy.

Pancakes are easy especially if you have a griddle you can whip them up in no time. You can in less than half an hour make a big breakfast when you have a griddle and its easy clean up.

How to Make Smiling Bear Pancakes:

Remember your camping. Believe me your going to want quick and easy. The ingredients are simple pancake mix and add water. I like Aunt Jemima, but there are other mixes. Betty Crocker, Krusteaz Buttermilk, Bisquick.

This is how to make 12-18 Pancakes with Aunt Jemima complete pancake mix.

  • Warm the Griddle
  • Take a mixing bowl
  • Add 2 Cups or Pancake mix
  • Add 1 1/2 cup water
  • Stir until lumps disappear
  • Let sit for a minute or 2. So that the mixture thickens.
  • Pour batter onto griddle; Determine the size of pancake your making.
  • Let cook for approx. 90 seconds or until slightly brown then flip & cook the other side until lightly browned.

What’s great about pancakes you can make a lot at one time and it is easy. So breakfast doesn’t take all day. If you want to spruce up your pancake you can add fruit to the top. Blueberry’s are always a good choose.

The Making of a Complete Easy Breakfast with Pancake Mix

Use the same easy to make pancake recipe I just spoke about. And make the pancakes. Then Take one pound of bacon. 7 eggs, and 7 slices of Cheddar Cheese. (2 cups Aunt Jemima mix & 1 1/2 cups water).

Then cook the bacon and eggs on the griddle. Use the pancakes to make one side of a sandwich. Place the pancake on the plate first. Then add the egg, and sprinkle some cheddar cheese. After that add some bacon. Then place a pancake over the top to make the perfect breakfast sandwich.

This recipe can make up to 7-8 Sandwiches.

Breakfast Scrambled

Scrambled eggs and toast are another super easy breakfast. That doesn’t take a long time to make. I don’t know about you but I like easy! When your cooking at the campground if you have a griddle this is another easy meal. Because you can make a lot all at the same time. It’s great.

Yes Anyone can cook scrambled eggs, but I’m going to tell you how they can come out perfect every time. Light and fluffy.

Ingredients:

  • 8 eggs
  • 2 tbsp spoon whole milk or water
  • Shredded cheese (optional)
  • Salt & pepper to desired taste
  • Non stick cooking oil, olive oil or butter

Utensils – Mixing bowl, fork or whisk, skillet or griddle.

The recipe makes for 4 meals so double the ingredients for more.

Instructions: Break the eggs into the mixing bowl. Add a table spoon of water or milk. Add Salt and pepper to your taste. Then take the fork or whisk and beat the eggs for 60 seconds. Make sure the eggs are mixed well with the other ingredients.

Use a skillet lightly grease the bottom with oil or butter. Next make sure the heat is on medium to Medium low. Pour the eggs, they will immediately start cooking. Use a spatula and Pull the cooked eggs to the center of the eggs.

The uncooked eggs will naturally spill into the opening that you made by moving the cooked eggs. Now is the time to add the cheese if you are going to use cheese. Sprinkle the cheese so that it will melt onto the eggs.

Use the spatula to move the eggs that are cooked on the side of the griddle to the center of the eggs. More uncooked eggs will go to the surface of the skillet where you have moved the cooked eggs away from.

Never leave the eggs on the skillet surface for a long period of time of they will become over cooked.

At the point where there are no uncooked eggs flooding the open spot on the skillet. And the scrambled eggs are in the center of the skillet. But some of the eggs texture are slightly runny .

Take the spatula and break up the scramble making sure the uncooked eggs are being turned to cook on the surface of the skillet. Keeping them moving so that the eggs cook evenly.

Easy Camping Breakfast French Toast

Fire Up the Griddle and gitterdone! Making French toast just got easer with a griddle. What you need to make this breakfast is:

  • 8 slices of bread
  • 1/4 cup of milk
  • 1 bottle of syrup

Step one warm the griddle.

Take the eggs and break them into a mixing bowl. Add the milk and stir the milk into the eggs. Next take the bread and dip into the bowl of eggs and milk. And then place the bread on the surface of the griddle. Keeping an eye on the bread. Flip the bread over when lightly browned.

Remove when lightly brown or cooked to your liking.

This takes hardly no time at all with a griddle. Because you can place a lot of slices all at the same time on the griddle. You can also cook up some bacon to go along with this delicious breakfast. And don’t forget the syrup.

What to Feed Your Kids for Lunch when Camping?

You want Happy Campers? Then you need to keep the hunger pains away. And what better way to do that then a nutritional lunch. Of course you have the traditional lunches that you would make while camping. Like hamburgers and hot dogs.

These are great easy meals for camping and heck what kid doesn’t like a burger or hot dog. But you can use the same ingredients but change it up a little bit. And it won’t take that much longer to make lunch.

For instance instead of having a hot dog on a bun. Why not make a nutritional high fiber and protein lunch. Cooking that same hot dog. But cutting it up and adding some beans in a pot. This is a simple way to make lunch. And it takes about 10 minutes.

Kids Love Sloppy Joes

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 package McCormick Sloppy Joes Mix
  • 1 Cup Ketchup
  • 2 teaspoons yellow mustard
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 6 Hamburger buns

How to make it: Take the trusty skillet out. Using medium to high heat, brown the ground beef. Drain the remaining grease. (Be Careful its hot).

Stir in McCormick Seasoning. Also add the ketchup, mustard, and water. Bring to a boil, reduce the temperature to low and place a lid on the skillet. Let simmer for about 10 minutes. Continue to stir so it cooks evenly. Serve on hamburger buns, and a side of potato chips.

This could actually make a good dinner as well. Enjoy!

Kids Love Hamburgers For Lunch

You can either cook up a nice juicy burger or another fun easy lunch is hamburger helper. And there is more flavors to choose from. It’s almost as quick as the time it takes to warm up the grill. Almost!

Ingredients: One pound ground beef, A box of your favorite hamburger helper. 1 3/4 hot water. 1 3/4 Milk.

Instructions:

  • Brown the meat in a large skillet & stirring. (6 – 7 Minutes) Drain grease.
  • Stir in hot water, milk, sauce mix and pasta. Heat to a boil.
  • Lower heat, put lid on and simmer for 25 minutes.

Not just any pizza this is an easy delicious meal for on or off the campsite. And that’s an English muffins pizza. They are great! For one they are fast to make and secondly they are easy for the kids to handle. Also you can make them how you like them. With the topping of your choice.

Ingredients: Takes 20 minutes and makes serving for 4.

  • 4 English Muffin – Split in two.
  • Pizza Sauce
  • 2 Cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 16 Pepperoni Slices (Optional).

Instructions:

  • Cut the English muffin down the middle so you have 2 halves.
  • Spread Pizza sauce on English Muffins with a spoon.
  • Sprinkle Mozzarella Cheese
  • Place pepperoni on top of English Muffins
  • Heat grill medium to low temperature. Place Pizza on grill. Cook for about 10 minutes or until cheese is melted, and brown on the edges.

Fire up the grill were having a BBQ. A Shish Kabob, what a fun treat for dinner. Kids love to use their fingers when eating. So now they can. This one takes a little prep time. But the thing is you can prepare before you get to the campground. Let’s take a look at what it will take to make a mean Shish Kabob.

Marinated beef, onions, peppers, cooked to perfection on a skewer. My mouth is watering thinking about it.

Ingredients:

  • A tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/3 Teriyaki Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 pounds sirloin steak
  • 1 large red onion
  • 1 large red bell pepper
  • 1 green bell pepper

Instructions:

Cut the peppers, onions, and steak into 1 inch pieces. Use a large bowl and add all the marinade ingredients. Stirring and mixing together. Add the steak and marinate for at least one hour. But no longer than 24 hours.

Next, season the onions and peppers to taste. Thread the beef, peppers, and onions onto the skewers.

Heat the grill and place the shish kabob on the grill. Cooking them for about 5 minutes, turning and cooking each side about the same amount of time.

Serve with a pasta salad or some potato salad.

Quesadillas Another Kid Friendly Camping Meal

Ingredients:

  • Flour tortilla
  • Boneless Chicken breast
  • Cheese
  • Mild sauce (optional)

Instructions:

  1. First grill the chicken on the grill. Cook 15 min and flip over. cook 10 minutes or until brown. Always check that the inside of the chicken is cooked all the way.
  2. Place flour Tortilla in aluminum pan to heat them. Or if you don’t have an aluminum pan you can warm them in a skillet. Which takes longer since it’s one at a time.
  3. Add cheese to the top until melted. Add chicken to tortilla.

This is an easy meal for camping and the kids love eating with there hands. So you will be happy with this fast easy meal and they will be happy too.

Tuesday Taco’s Fun for both Adults & the Kids

You may think that taco’s are a lot of work to make while camping. But you could do two things to make it easier. The first is to do the prep work before you go camping. Or you could by everything already cut at the grocery store. Here are the ingredients you will need to make tacos.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion (chopped onion)
  • 1 Tomato (diced)
  • 1 small can cut black olives
  • Shredded lettuce
  • 1 package flour tortilla
  • 1 box taco shells
  • 1 bag mixed shredded cheese
  • McCormick Taco Mix
  • 1 Taco Sauce (salsa)
  • Sour cream
  • 3/4 cup water

Instructions:

  • Place ground beef into a large skillet cook until browned. Drain grease.
  • Stir in taco seasoning and 3/4 cup water into skillet of meat.
  • Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Stirring occasionally. Spoon into taco shells with your choice of toppings.

Easy and a great side to go with this dinner is refried beans. Another easy side dish. Just get a can of the refried beans open it. Pour into a square aluminum pan, place lid on top. Warm on the grill, When warm add some shredded cheese. Once the cheese is melted the beans are ready to be served.

If Kids Love Hamburgers They Will Love a Camping Foil Pack

This is one of my favorite meals to cook when I go camping. Why because it is so easy. I call it a foil pack. Because it is wrapped in tin foil and placed on the grill to cook. Here’s how to make it.

Ingredients: 1 bag of mini Carrots, 1 potato per person eating. 1 onion, a pinch of salt and pepper to taste. 1/2 a stick of Butter.

Instructions:

Take two long pieces of tin foil. Place them over each other like a cross. In the center of the tin foil add the ingredients.

Cut carrots and onions into bite site pieces. Cut the potatoes into bite size pieces place them on the center of the tin foil. Take half a stick of butter and cut it into smaller pieces & add to carrots and potatoes. Use salt and pepper to taste.

Fold tin foil bringing the sides in to the center. Until you have a square package. Place Foil pack on a heated Grill and cook 15 min. and flip and cook the other side. Until the potatoes are brown and crispy.

This is a great side dish that works with Hamburger patties without using the bun. Also works with grilled chicken. Both are healthy meals for kids. And for mom and dad too.

Nachos

A great meal for a snack or maybe you just want nachos. In any case another kid friendly meal. And look how easy to make when camping.

Ingredients:

  • Tostitos chips
  • 2 cups shredded Monterey jack cheese (or preferred cheese)
  • 1 pound beef
  • 1 package taco seasoning mix
  • 2 can of plum tomatoes chopped (2/3) cup
  • 2 medium green onions sliced 1/4 cup
  • 1 12 inch tin pan

Instructions:

  • Line tin pan with Tostitos chips
  • Cook ground beef in skillet until meat is browned. Drain grease.
  • Add taco seasoning to meat.
  • Put half meat on top of chips and add half of the other ingredients.
  • Add another layer of meat and ingredients ending with the cheese on top.
  • Place tin inside grill (top down) and cook 10 min or until cheese is melted.

Loaded Potatoes

Ingredients: This will make four servings.

  • 4 potatoes
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 3/4 shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 lb. bacon
  • 2 Green onion whites -sliced thin
  • pinch of salt ( or to taste)
  • A pinch of pepper (to taste)

Instructions:

  • Heat grill for medium to low heat.
  • Use a fork to puncture potato all around the potato.
  • Cover potato in tin foil.
  • Grill the potato for about 1 hour or until it is soft. Turning the potato frequently.
  • While potato is cooking cook bacon in a skillet or on the griddle. cook the bacon until it is brown and crisp. Cut bacon into smaller pieces.
  • Unwrap potato and cut lengthwise. Scoop out center of potato into a medium size bowl. Then add butter, sour cream, green onion whites, half the cheddar cheese, half the bacon and season with salt and pepper.
  • Scoop back into each potato with a spoon. Mounding it over the top.
  • Sprinkle with remaining cheese cook for about 5 min or until cheese is melted. Remove from grill, add the remainder of bacon and serve.

Camping Desserts for Kids

Pizza Fritte

Easy fried dough ingredients Pizza dough, confectionary sugar, and vegetable oil.

  • Use a skillet with deep sides.
  • Let the dough rise for a few hours in a bowl with a towel covering it.
  • Use a little flour on your hands to keep the dough from sticking. Stretch the dough out.
  • Cut the doe into 3 X 3 inch sections.
  • Poke a hole through the center of the dough.
  • Pour oil into the skillet and heat the skillet.
  • Place the dough into the hot grease (be careful not to get burnt).
  • Cook about a min or until golden brown. Carefully turn dough over and cook the other side until brown.
  • Use a tin pan with paper towels inside to drain any grease off pizza fritte.
  • Let cool and sprinkle confectionary sugar on dough to make it a nice fun sweet dessert.

Fruit Salad

Make a refreshing dessert for the kids.

Ingredients:

  • 1lb of Strawberries, hulled and cut in two
  • 6 oz. blueberry’s
  • 6 oz. raspberry
  • 3 kiwi’s peeled and sliced.
  • 1 pealed orange and wedges cut in half.
  • 2 apples peeled and chopped.
  • 1 mango peeled and chopped
  • 2 cups grapes
  • DRESSING – 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • zest of one lemon

Instructions:

In a small bowl stir or whisk together the honey, orange juice, and lemon zest. Add fruit to a large bowl, and pour the dressing from the other bowl over the fruit. toss the fruit to combine the dressing. And chill or eat immediately.

There is a lot of prep work, but you could make this salad ahead of your camping trip and just pull it from the cooler when your ready to serve it.

Smores

The perfect fun Camping dessert that kids will stay up late to eat. First thing you need is a good camping fire. Once the the fire is going, grab your smores sticks or skewers. Then you need some ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag of marshmallow’s
  • 1 bag of Hershey chocolate bars
  • 1 box of graham crackers

Instructions:

  1. Give each kid a skewer with a marshmallow on it. Let them roast the marshmallow on an open fire.
  2. Take one graham cracker break it in two. Place the chocolate on one half of the graham cracker. Place the roasted marshmallow on top of the chocolate. Use the other half of the graham cracker on top. So that you have a sandwich with a marshmallow and melted chocolate inside.
  3. Rinse and repeat!!

Strawberry Shortcake

This Strawberry Shortcake is the perfect size for the kids. Take Small round sponge cake, Strawberries, Strawberry glaze, and whip cream. And you have the perfect dessert.of

Ingredients:

  • 1 container of fresh strawberries
  • Marzetti’s strawberry glaze
  • 6 sponge cake (6 in a pack)
  • 1 container Cool Whip

Instructions:

  • Remove green calyx off strawberry and cut strawberries in half.
  • Place strawberries into a bowl and stir strawberry glaze into strawberries.
  • Place sponge cake on paper plate.
  • Spoon in strawberries onto sponge cake.
  • Top off Strawberry’s with dollop of whip cream.

Serve to the kids and be sure to try one too, there delicious.
